FIREMAN Kick off meeting, 15th-18th April 2009

The first annual general meeting of all of the members of the FIREMAN project convened in the wonderful Leathes Head Hotel situated within Borrowdale Valley, Cumbria, UK.

Partners from the University of Liverpool, University of Montpellier, Lund University, University of Santiago de Compostela, Moors for the Future and invited members Althea Davies and Daniele Colombaroli discussed the best approach to fulfill the objectives of the 4 year research programme.

The first day of talks by each working group outlined the ideas and previous experience that could be brought into the FIREMAN project. Fruitful discussion and collaborations ensued between different group members and a detailed work programme was devised.

After the discussions, group members went to a local field site "Johnny's Wood" to take a sediment core and experience the surrounding area of the Lake District in glorious sunshine.

 

 

All that hard work deservesd a celebratory drink and a toast to the FIREMAN project followed by a wonderful champagne reception and exquisite three course meal in the Leathes Head Hotel.
